The Chief Engineer Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Engineer to lead the engineering and maintenance team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the hotel's infrastructure, systems, and facilities remain operational and compliant with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the hotel's engineering and maintenance team.
- Ensure all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems are maintained and operational.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime and enhance efficiency.
- Supervise external contractors and ensure adherence to the hotel's standards and regulations.
- Manage departmental budgets, monitor expenses, and optimise resources effectively.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability efforts within the hotel.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within the hospitality industry.
- A relevant engineering qualification (e.g., mechanical, electrical, or facilities management).
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and building systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick decisions.
- Effective leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a hands-on approach when required.
