Duty Manager - Late Night Venue - Clapham
What's the Role?
We're on the hunt for a Freelance Duty Manager to take charge of an iconic venue. You'll be the go-to person for managing our front of house, bar, and floor teams, while keeping a watchful eye on security, tech staff, and the day's event promoters. Your mission? Ensure every customer, staff member, and client walks away with a top-notch experience, all while making sure we stick to the venue's licensing terms and health & safety rules.
This role is perfect for anyone looking to dive deeper into the world of live events, with a wide variety of shows and events to sink your teeth into. If you're eager to climb the ranks in event and venue management, operations, or hospitality, this gig is for you.
We're especially keen to hear from folks who've got hands-on experience running live music events, club nights, or big-deal sporting events like boxing.
The Nitty-Gritty
Reporting To: General Manager and Assistant General Manager
Key Relationships: Bar, Floor & Box Office Supervisors, Duty Technicians, External Promoters, and Security Team
Shift Times & Pay:
- Day Events: 9am - 6pm
- Evening Shows: 4pm - 12am
- Night Events: 9pm - 4am
Shifts will vary depending on what's on the schedule, and they're assigned monthly based on your availability.

What You'll Be Doing:
- Work closely with duty technicians, promoters, and event managers to keep the event and venue operations (Bar, FOH, etc.) running smoothly.
- Lead the event teams, including Bar, Floor, FOH, and security staff.
- Brief and oversee the security team, ensuring they're fully prepped for each event.
- Conduct staff briefings on event procedures.
- Report any issues to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with our venue's licensing terms.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, aiming to meet or exceed targets while maintaining high standards.
- Ensure the safety of all staff and patrons.
- Uphold health and safety standards and lead any potential evacuations.
- Respond to first aid or security issues, liaise with emergency services when needed, and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Cash up any sales systems and close out the event.
- Write detailed post-event reports and share them with key team members.
Admin Tasks:
- End of Day reports for events you manage
- Cash handling and reconciliation
- Event-specific reports
Meetings:
- Attend briefings and event handovers
- Lead event briefings
Who We're Looking For:
