This company with an enviable portfolio of Hotels, Farming interests and properties is continuing with its growth aspirations over the next 10 years and this role will be influential in developing an Environmental, Social, and Governance strategy that aligns with these objectives. It is a unique opportunity to be leading ESG and designing a strategy that can synergise with the company's growth ambitions.
Role Overview
The ESG Manager will lead the development and implementation of the companies ESG strategy, ensuring that environmental, social, and governance considerations are integrated into all aspects of the company's operations. This role requires a highly energetic, strategic thinker, self-starter with a strong foundation in ESG principles and a passion for driving sustainable practices across diverse sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- ESG Framework: Design and execute a comprehensive ESG framework aligned with mission and operational goals. This framework needs to encompass all elements of the portfolio and must commit to yearly continuous improvement based on SMART KPIs.
- Policy Implementation: Develop and enforce ESG policies and procedures across all departments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Portfolio Collaboration: Build key relationships across our portfolio, ensuring they are all working toward a shared goal, are engaged with our ESG vision and actively collaborating with each other so we are 'one team'.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, sharing success, implementing best practise and continuously improving ESG. External stakeholders include suppliers, certifications, community groups and regulators.
- Reporting and Disclosure: Oversee the preparation of ESG reports and audits in accordance with SECR, owning the process and our internal data platform
- Training and Awareness: Support with the development and delivery of ESG training programs to employees, fostering a culture of sustainability and ethical responsibility.
Qualifications and Experience required
- Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in ESG management, sustainability reporting, or corporate responsibility, preferably within hospitality.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of ESG reporting standards and frameworks, particularly SECR and any additional proficiency such as CSRD, CSDDD, GRI, TCFD. Familiarity with ESG data management tools is preferred.
- Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to translate complex ESG data into actionable insights.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively conveying ESG concepts to diverse audiences.
- Certifications: Experience leading on a certification, Earth-Check. B-Corp, ISO, BREEAM is preferable.
